About the Semaglutide
Semaglutide injection is a prescription medicine used along with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to:
- lower the risk of major cardiovascular events such as death, heart attack, or stroke in adults with established heart disease who have obesity or are overweight.
- help adults with obesity, and certain adults who are overweight with weight-related medical conditions, lose weight and maintain weight loss.
Semaglutide injection is also used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity to help children aged 12 years and older with obesity lose weight and keep the weight off.
Semaglutide contains semaglutide and should not be used together with other products that contain semaglutide or with other GLP-1 receptor agonist medicines.
It is not known whether Semaglutide injection is safe and effective for reducing the risk of major cardiovascular events (death, heart attack, or stroke) in people under 18 years of age.
Benefit of Semaglutide
- Helps improve blood sugar (glucose) and lower A1C when used along with diet and exercise in adults with type 2 diabetes.
- Lowers the risk of major cardiovascular events (stroke, heart attack, or death) in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have heart disease.
- Lowers the risk of worsening kidney disease, kidney failure (end-stage kidney disease), and death due to cardiovascular disease in adults with type 2 diabetes who also have chronic kidney disease.
How to use Semaglutide
Wegovy can be injected into the abdomen or thigh. Choose an injection area that feels most comfortable. Rotate the injection spot every week by splitting the selected area into four sections and using a different section each time. Place each new injection at least a finger-width away from the previous one, and if injecting into the abdomen, keep the injection at least 5 cm away from the belly button.
How GLP-1 helps you reduce weight
GLP-1 receptor agonists such as Wegovy (semaglutide) and Mounjaro (tirzepatide) work by mimicking your body's natural GLP-1 hormone.
GLP-1 slows down digestion
Slower digestion means your body releases less sugar from the food you eat, reducing blood sugar spikes and supporting steady weight loss.
GLP-1 regulates your blood sugar level
GLP-1 blocks glucagon secretion — the hormone responsible for raising blood sugar — making it harder for your body to store fat.
GLP-1 increases satiety after eating
GLP-1 acts on areas of your brain that regulate hunger and fullness, reducing appetite and helping you eat less without feeling deprived.

Semaglutide FAQs
Yes, alcohol can generally be consumed while using Wegovy because there are no specific warnings that prohibit combining the two. However, studies involving semaglutide (Wegovy’s active ingredient) suggest that heavy drinking may reduce how well the medication works.
A common guideline is to keep alcohol to no more than 1 drink per day for women and 2 drinks per day for men. It’s best to review your alcohol use with your prescriber, since they can give advice tailored to your health and treatment plan.
Yes, in India you need a prescription from a licensed medical doctor to obtain Semaglutide. The patient needs to be on app
Switching from Mounjaro to Semaglutide is possible, but it should only be done with support from a doctor. At Karespot, we require just a ten-day interval between your final Mounjaro dose and your first Semaglutide dose whereas many providers advise waiting 28 days.
Our aim is to make the changeover as smooth as possible, so you can continue your weight-loss progress with minimal disruption.
Make sure to speak with your prescriber to confirm the safest and most effective way to transition between these two treatments.
After your final dose, Semaglutide can stay in the body for roughly five to seven weeks because semaglutide has an approximate one-week half-life. Full clearance may take around eight to ten weeks, depending on individual factors such as kidney function and general health. Over this period, its effects on appetite and blood sugar control typically fade gradually.
For best results, try to take your injection on the same day each week to maintain a steady routine and get the most from your treatment.
If you can not take it on your usual day, follow these guidelines:
- If you miss a dose and your next scheduled dose is more than 22 days away, take the missed dose as soon as possible.
- If you miss a dose and your next scheduled dose is less than 22 days away, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on your usual scheduled day.
- If you have missed Wegovy for more than 22 weeks, take your next dose on your scheduled day, or contact your healthcare provider for advice on what to do next.
FAQ
The GLP-1 (Semaglutide)+ Programme currently includes a semaglutide injection for four weeks. Your Karespot doctor will recommend the most appropriate medication based on your health profile, medical history, and weight management goals during your consultation.
The GLP-1 (Semaglutide) + Programme is a monthly subscription. Most patients see meaningful results within 3–6 months and continue for 12 months or more to achieve their target weight and consolidate long-term habits. Your doctor will review your progress regularly and advise on the appropriate duration for your goals.
The GLP-1+ Programme bundles your medication with full holistic support — doctor supervision, registered dietitian coaching, behavioural health check-ins, and daily health coach check-ins. Buying medication alone without structured support means you miss the guidance that protects your muscle mass, manages side effects, and significantly improves long-term outcomes. The programme is designed for patients who want the best possible results, not just the prescription.
After your prescription is issued, your medication is dispensed by our licensed partner pharmacy and typically delivered within 2–5 business days depending on your location. Cold chain is maintained throughout. Your package arrives in plain, unmarked packaging with no identifying labels on the outside.
Yes. Your Karespot doctor can review your progress and recommend switching medications if clinically appropriate. We recommend a gap of approximately 10 days between your last dose of one medication and the first dose of the other. Contact your Kare team for personalised guidance on switching.
GLP-1 medications are Schedule H prescription medicines in India. Your Karespot doctor will issue your prescription during or after your online consultation if you are found to be clinically appropriate. No medication is dispensed without a valid prescription from a registered Indian medical practitioner specialising in Endocrinology or Internal Medicine.
