Karespot Story

Why we started Karespot

Weight isn't about willpower. It's biology. We started Karespot to make real, medical care for it something people can actually reach.

The problem

Biology, not willpower

For millions of people, weight is driven by appetite, metabolism and constant food noise, not a lack of effort.

The gap

Care behind a premium

Effective treatment existed, but it was hard to access, poorly explained, and priced as a luxury few could reach.

Our mission

Great care, for everyone

We built Karespot so good care isn't a premium privilege. It's accessible to everyone choosing to reclaim their life.

The Kare advantage

The Kare advantage is a holistic lens on weight loss. We believe medicine is a tool, a powerful one, but you are the true protagonist of your journey. Our role is to empower you and support you at every step, so you never feel alone at any stage.

The programme was designed by practising doctors: internal medicine physicians working in metabolic health, alongside a dietician, a psychologist and health coaches. Clinical thinking, built for how people actually live. Meet the doctors behind Karespot.

The Kare advantage

The pillars that make Karespot different

Medication is one part of the picture. These are the principles the rest of the programme is built on.

Doctor-led, by doctors who treat obesity

Your prescription comes from a registered, MCI-listed doctor whose clinical work is in metabolic medicine: diabetes, insulin resistance, hormonal and obesity-related conditions. Not a general prescriber, and never an algorithm or an online form.

The same doctor stays involved throughout your programme, adjusting your plan as your body responds.

Muscle-smart: protect muscle, not just the number

A significant share of the weight lost on GLP-1 medication can come from lean muscle rather than fat. Losing muscle slows your metabolism and makes regain far more likely once treatment ends.

We pair high-protein nutrition with strength-based activity specifically to preserve muscle, because the goal is a long-term outcome, not a fast drop on the scale.

A full team, tracking side effects

Alongside your doctor you get a registered dietician, a clinical psychologist and a health coach. Your side effects are actively tracked, not left for you to manage alone.

When nausea or other symptoms appear, the team responds early and connects you back to your prescriber, which is what keeps people on treatment long enough for it to work.

Customised, not one-dose-fits-all

There is no standard Karespot plan. Your medication, your dose-escalation schedule, your nutrition and your activity are built around your health history, your tolerance and your goals.

Two patients on the same medicine can be on very different plans, and often should be.

Your choice of medicine, brand-agnostic

We are not tied to any pharmaceutical brand. Our plans include both innovator medicines and Indian biosimilars, and we explain the difference in cost and evidence honestly.

The choice is yours to make, with your doctor. It is not made for you by a commercial arrangement.

Custodian of your health, not a sales channel

No incentives, commissions or kickbacks are paid to any Karespot care provider to promote a particular medicine, brand or plan.

Your doctor, dietician, psychologist and coach are paid to look after your health, so the advice you get is the advice they believe is right for you.

Honest, evidence-based, built for Indian bodies

Our protocols are designed by practising doctors around the metabolic realities of the South Asian body, which develops metabolic disease at a lower BMI than Western populations and so needs lower treatment thresholds and a different nutritional approach.

We set realistic expectations and tell you about side effects before you start, not after. Every article is medically reviewed and referenced.

Who we prescribe to, and how we keep it safe

In line with India-specific obesity guidelines, weight-loss medication is prescribed only to people with:

  • a BMI of 27 or above, or
  • a BMI of 25 or above with at least one weight-related health condition, such as type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, fatty liver or obstructive sleep apnoea. [3] [5]

These thresholds are deliberately lower than Western ones. South Asians carry more visceral fat and develop metabolic disease at a lower body weight, so Indian guidance uses lower BMI cut-offs than the international standard of 30.

Weight-loss medication is only prescribed under the supervision of, and after a consultation with, an internal medicine doctor. Before anything is prescribed, a detailed medical history is taken to assess whether the medicine is safe and right for you. If it isn't, we will tell you so.

Muscle-smart by design

A lot of the weight people lose on GLP-1 medicines can come from muscle, not just fat. [1] So our protocols are designed by a multidisciplinary clinical team to help you get the most from your fat loss while protecting muscle:

Internal medicine

Prescribing doctors

Oversee your treatment, your dosing and your overall health.

Pharmacologist

Medication safety

Guides safe, effective use of GLP-1 medicines.

Dietician

Protein & nutrition

Builds the high-protein plan that helps protect lean muscle.

Orthopaedics

Strength & joints

Help protect muscle, strength and joints.

Built to help you keep it off

Karespot was built by doctors with one aim: to help you keep the weight off, not just lose it.

Obesity is a chronic condition, and when treatment and support stop abruptly, much of the lost weight is often regained. [2] That's why Karespot is built for the long term: ongoing medical support paired with our muscle-smart, holistic approach, so your results are more likely to last.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Karespot is a doctor-led weight-loss service in India that combines prescription GLP-1 medication with personalised health coaching, all supervised by registered doctors. Every patient is seen by an MCI-registered doctor, and the programme also includes a registered dietician, a clinical psychologist and a health coach.

Weight-loss medication is prescribed to people with a BMI of 27 or above, or a BMI of 25 or above with at least one weight-related health condition such as type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal cholesterol, fatty liver or obstructive sleep apnoea.

These thresholds are lower than Western ones because South Asians develop metabolic disease at a lower body weight. Eligibility is always confirmed by a doctor during your consultation. Meeting the BMI threshold does not automatically mean medication is right for you.

Check your BMI

No. Karespot is brand-agnostic. Our plans include both innovator medicines and Indian biosimilars, and no incentives, commissions or kickbacks are paid to any Karespot care provider to promote a particular medicine, brand or plan.

Your doctor explains the differences in cost and evidence, and the choice is made with you.

Treatment is only prescribed after a doctor reviews your health, and our team supports you and monitors your progress throughout. GLP-1 medicines are prescription-only and are used under medical supervision.

The most common side effects are gastrointestinal: nausea, vomiting, constipation and reflux. They are usually worst in the first weeks and after each dose increase, which is why the dose starts low and is raised slowly.

Yes. A registered doctor must assess your health before any medication is prescribed. You start with a short online eligibility check, followed by a consultation with an internal medicine doctor.

Karespot offers clinically proven GLP-1 medicines such as semaglutide (Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro) where appropriate, alongside coaching for nutrition and habits. Your doctor recommends what is suitable for you based on your health profile and weight goals.

Often, yes, unless the underlying habits and metabolic drivers have been addressed. Obesity is a chronic, relapsing condition, and studies show a significant proportion of lost weight is regained in the year after GLP-1 treatment stops.

This is exactly why Karespot pairs medication with dietician coaching, psychologist support and strength-based activity, so that when the medication ends, the habits and the muscle remain.

Yes. Karespot works through telehealth, so you can access consultations and treatment from anywhere in India. Medication is delivered in plain, unmarked packaging with no identifying labels on the outside.
